* Note: These figures represent indicative global market averages intended for strategic and voyage-planning analysis. They are not live spot prices; actual bunkering quotes vary by supplier, delivery terms, credit terms and volume. Always confirm firm pricing with your broker or supplier before stemming fuel.
Methodology: Prices reflect assessed VLSFO (0.50% Sulphur, ISO 8217:2017) averages compiled from publicly available industry price indications across each hub's trading sessions. The "Global VLSFO Average" uses the standard 4-port benchmark (Singapore, Rotterdam, Fujairah, Houston), which together represent a significant share of global bunker volumes. Figures are updated periodically and are intended for comparative market reference, not transactional pricing.

VLSFO and MGO Market Insights

Monitoring the price index between Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) and Marine Gas Oil (MGO) is essential for operational planning. While VLSFO is the standard for global shipping, MGO remains vital for compliance in Emission Control Areas (ECA).

In the latest snapshot, Singapore, Hong Kong, Fujairah, LA/Long Beach and Houston posted gains, while Rotterdam, New York and Santos eased lower. Rotterdam remains the most competitive of the major benchmark hubs, and Santos recorded the sharpest daily pullback. Meanwhile, the HSFO-to-VLSFO scrubber spread has been widening, which continues to influence newbuild and retrofit scrubber economics for owners weighing compliance strategy.
